THERESE - A SWEET COMPASSIONATE FRIEND
RICHARD & COMFORT GROCCIA
Therese Striggner Scott became our dear friend while she was Ambassador to Italy. I was a Consul at the U.S. Embassy and my wife, Comfort, was from Ghana.
Over the three years we spent together in Rome we got to know Ambassador Scott well, socializing frequently at the Ambassadorial residence, at official functions or informally at our apartment. She and Comfort spent hours together, wandering the streets of Rome, shopping or just sightseeing.
When Ambassador Scott was recalled to Accra, her niece (Vera) stayed with us so she could finish her last year at the French school. Over the years we visited Ambassador Scott frequently, often spending a few days with her at the Scott house or at her apartment in Villaggio.
In 2004 Ambassador Scott visited us over the Christmas period in Rome, as she returned from a UN mission in Darfur. It was one of our happiest Christmases.
Therese was a sweet, compassionate friend. We will sorely miss her.
